I've been trying to get some outdoor activities done before the cold comes. I absolutely love tiring my kids out at the farm or any of the million local parks. They love it too. Lizzy is a climber. She climbs everything and she gets very upset when she can't scale a certain object. This tractor was really ticking her off. She finally did get up (after a few bumps of the head).
They have a really good time at the farm. The problem we've been having recently is that the ducks and especially the geese are getting VERY aggressive about being fed. They swarm us like fowl possessed and the kids end up screaming and throwing huge amounts of bread in an attempt to save themselves. It's hilarious but just the teeniest bit scary (those things bite, you know!). I guess they're just too used to people feeding them.
Our latest trip to the park started a trauma in Will's life. Will and Logan (Will's cousin) like to race. We like them to race because it tires them out and they take good naps. Also, it gives them something to do rather than just narrating their activities instead of actually doing them (do anyone else's kids do this?). By the time we left the park both boys were red in the face and very tired. I offered Will some water but he insisted that he wanted milk. Needless to say this wasn't the best option and he was shortly leaning over the toilet thinking he was going to puke. He did this for almost an hour until I pried him away from the toilet and made him get into bed. Poor kid. He thought he was going to puke for days afterward.
Lizzy didn't have quite as exhausting a time but did get a bit of a red face.
And so to knitting. I finally finished a scarf I've been working on for way too long. It's not that it was a difficult project, it's just that I've been reading some fab books lately and I can't seem to put them down. This scarf is meant to go with the fingerless mitts I showed in my last post. They're for my older sister for her birthday. This yarn, again, is unbelievable. Everyone should knit at least one item with it!
I love the mock cable and especially love the colors in the yarn. I'm sure my sister will be over the moon about the set of mitts and scarf. Lucky her!
Pattern: Super Yak Scarf from One Skein Wonders
Yarn: Sheep Shop Sheep 3
Needles: US #8
Mods: The pattern calls for a chunky yarn and this is sport weight so obviously I did MANY more repeats than the pattern called for.
Made for: my sister Brooke
That's all.

I bet your sister will love it - it's beautiful!
And I do use some days to knit up a pair of socks. But I always have more than one pair on my needles ;) So it might seems like i knit them up faster than I do.
Looks like a great day at the farm!
Your kids are too cute. Especially on tractors.
And the scarf is beautiful. It goes with the mitts perfectly! What a fab set.

Poor Will! I feel bad when they get so sick. Hopefully he took a really good nap. I love the picture of Lizzy climbing up the tractor.
So I got your blog off facebook. Oh my heck! Your kids are adorable. Will looks just like you. Do people say that? And I am so glad you put all the knitting info down cause I love to knit. I just knit Brady a hot pair of pants. HAHA. WHAT? You knit? So I'm thinking Knitting is the new COOL. Because a bunch of my friends have started doing it. Don't think I will ever be doing it since my attention span is near empty always! What a fun thing to do though! That scarf is soooooo stinkin cute! Your sis will love it!!! I'm gonna make you a tshirt that says, I'm a knitwit
