Home for a Download

When I was in London for study abroad, I met a guy at church named Alex Boye.  He was an amazingly talented singer and we were able to hear him perform a few times.  I didn't know it then but apparently he had been (previous to my meeting him) in a boy band called "Awesome" that did fairly well in Europe.  Anyway, years later he moved to Utah.  We'd bump into each other from time to time and Steve and I would go see him perform at different venues.  Then I started seeing his face pop up during LDS General Conference in the Tabernacle Choir.

Well, recently he recorded a "secular" album which is going to be released this summer.  It is,  as one critic described, "what you would get if James Brown got sucked up in a vacuum with the Beatles, with a little motown thrown in for good measure".  Sounds good to me!

The reason I am posting this is that he is heading a fundraiser called "Home for a Download" wherein people go onto itunes on July 21st and download his song (.99) "Crazy for You" and ALL the money will go toward building a home for a refugee family whose father recently committed suicide.  You can find him on facebook and get more information (his website is currently under construction).

So, I just thought I'd pass this along to my blogger friends.  Every little bit counts, right?  I've heard bits and pieces from this new album and it's going to be a blast!  Really good music, and Alex has a great voice.

This goes down in history as your least popular post ever.

I guess it goes to show that you should not do anything nice for anyone or you will be shunned by your followers. :)
