Steve asked me the other night if I wasn't blogging anymore. Full stop. Not just, "are you being lazy?". I figured that was a bad sign. I've been busy (good excuse, right?) and can't seem to get a handle on the kids' schedules. It's mental. Almost like I can't make things compute in my head anymore. Huh, let this be a lesson to me that I cannot try to be one of those moms who "do it all". I just don't care to ;).
And so to knitting. I've told you (I think about a year ago) that I had two projects in the works that were boring me to sobs. SOBS! Well, I got all annoyed that they were still on the needles (also, I realized that one had been in the works for a YEAR), so I decided that, boredom or no, they had to be finished. Or frogged. But preferably finished. I first pulled out my Sexy Cardi. You know the one I had come to detest? I hated the green, I hated the ribbing, I hated the itchiness of the yarn... Turns out I just hated doing the ribbing. I finished it and it's great. I'm not completely in love with it because it's a bit wonky and rolls along the edges but *I* knit it and I'm very excited to wear it. Over a really thick shirt because that yarn is a nightmare!
Yarn: Jo Sharp Alpaca Kid Lustre (translation: steel wool)
Needles: US #10.5 and #11
Mods: Mercifully the designer put a mod for the neckline on ravelry. I used it.
Made for: ME!
The second project I decided to finish was my Clapotis. OH. MY. GOSH how I love this thing! I don't know why I can't just put my head down and power through these boring projects because this is a prize. I can't wait to wear it. It will be fabbity fab as a scarf OR as a shawl! How clever! Once again, I have chosen ridiculously itchy yarn, but I figure in the REALLY cold weather, I won't care so much that it's itching me as how lovely and warm it's keeping me. Maybe? Anyway, I'm taking this little peach to London with me. It's my bff of knits.
Pattern: Clapotis
Yarn: Lonesome Stone Fraser Flats
Needles: US #7
Mods: I just did a few extra straight rows to make it longer
Made for: ME!
As to London, yes we're going! I've become a mad hot knitter to get all the things I want to wear whipped up! Is London NOT the most perfect place to wear knitted items? Okay, I admit that as we're going in November I may end up smelling of wet dog the entire time but I'm willing to live with it. It's fine. At least I'll be stinky and warm.
Peace out.
Heidi
